2000 and Road Planning:
Experiences with Stricter Administration of the Habitats Directive
SESSION IN ENGLISH
The session's theme is
Natura 2000. Nordic presentations describe the consequences of a stricter
administrative practice in regard of the Habitats Directive, after the EU
Court's "Mussels decision", on EIA studies.
The session consists of 3 presentations, beginning with an overview of
Nordic administration practice and continuing with cases from Nordic
countries.
• The habitat directive's basis and objectives. Erik Buchwald, By- og

• A Finnish case describing the significance of the
habitats directive in planning and designing roads. Tarja Söderman,
Finland’s environmental administration.
• The Main Road 15 EIA, a Danish case describing EIA practice and
demands in relation to the habitats directive. Ulla Rose Andersen,
