Technical Tours
Vuosaari Harbour An Accessible
Helsinki
VUOSAARI HARBOUR
Time: Sunday 8 June at 16:00 - 19:00
(several parallel tours)
A technical tour will be arranged 8 June to the largest infrastructure
project in Finland, the Vuosaari Harbour Project. The tour is organised in
co-operation with the harbour's VUOLI land transport links project.
NB! The technical
tour is part of the congress’ welcoming programme, and is also included in
the accompanying person’s fee. The tour continues with a get together when
returning to the Congress centre.
About the Vuosaari Harbour Project
The project includes a cargo harbour, a logistics area, traffic links (harbour
road, harbour railway line and fairway) and the Meriportti Business Park.
The project is conducted by the Port of Helsinki in cooperation with the
Finnish Maritime Administration, the Finnish Rail Administration and the
Finnish Road Administration. The harbour will be opened for use in 2008 and
it will reach its full extent in 2009. Closer details can be found on the

AN ACCESSIBLE HELSINKI
Time: Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 June
at 13:00 - 14:30 and 15:00 - 16:30

The technical tour “An Accessible Helsinki” is arranged in co-operation with
the City of Helsinki.
During the tour the participants will get the chance
to get acquainted with an exhibition of different environmental products
used to increase accessibility. The products make moving around easier for
those using wheelchairs or walkers or have a visual disability.
The exhibition aspires to increase the use of solutions that will increase
accessibility in the construction of streets and recreation areas. |
