Session 2: IT
without Frontiers - A Journey in the North
We follow some people who plan and make a journey in 2012 through all the
Nordic countries. They consider costs, travel time and personal CO2 quotas.
The session takes up a series of new technical challenges facing road
administrations, business and transport operators. The listeners will hear
about the Digital Aura, an essential communications tool.
Our travel guide and keynote speaker is Preben Mejer, director and
co-founder of Innovation Lab, an international node for technology trends
and opportunities for new and future technology. We learn about using new
web technology, but also about its dependence on compatible data. We follow
a person who'll meet with the unexpected - in 2012.
As the keynote speaker tells us about the general demands, preconditions and
opportunities for the traveller, we also zoom in on some specific technical
challenges, by looking at a number of underlying IT and safety aspects in
short professional presentations. The keynote speaker can, for instance,
tell about the person using an Inter-Nordic travel planning tool integrating
the different transport modes, while the professional presentation deals
with the demands on compatible standards, data quality and data exchange
which must be met to create such a tool. Another point may be a terror
threat against a tunnel.
Thus, we direct the session's focus partly on specific IT themes, such as
data standards, data accessibility, IT security &c, partly on the new
technology of information and communication and the need for collaboration
between administrations and business.
