Session 1:
Clients - From Nuisance to Resource
We focus on dialogue
with the clients. We present inspiring ways to include the clients in road
planning, implementation and development.
We use different points of view, starting with the voices of the clients
themselves, continuing to practical experience of e.g. operations and
maintenance and to recommendations on how the dialogue can be organized in
different stages of road administration. We use an electronic voting system
during the ses-sion.
1. A short introduction. Rita Piirainen, Finland
2. A film shows the experiences of citizens and business with road
management problems. Representatives for different client groups in the
Nordic countries are interviewed. They also show us the paradoxes arising
between true user needs and client focused road management.
3. Four good examples are presented:
• Client oriented operations, Finland. Anders Östergård.
• Dialogue in operations management, Sweden. Preliminary: Lennart
Andersson.
• Knowledge generation and dialogue do not make for conflict-free planning, Norway. Tore Solberg.
• Give a chance and influence - listening to the neighbours is the way
forward in open country, Denmark. Andrew Langkjaer.
4. Success factors for good client relations. Frank Hagerup,
Denmark. Based on the Nordic countries' experiences, we present best
practice in dialogue with the clients in different road management
situations. From this, we draw conclusions and recommendations.
5. Questions to the speakers and voting.
6. Conclusion, Rita Piirainen.
