Session 6:
Better Health by Technology and Logistics - How to Solve Urban Pollution
Problems?
We focus on the challenges of
and opportunities for reducing air pollution and noise in urban areas. By
reducing present pollution levels we can achieve better health in Nordic
cities. There are many measures that can improve the urban environment. Two
measures of current interest are low dust and noise asphalt and improving
the environmental viability and efficiency of goods transport and
distribution. Implementing cost effective measures demands good information
on what materials and emission sources cause most health damage. The session
also focuses on new knowledge about health impacts, for in-stance from
changing fuels and new demands on vehicle technology.
1. New emission technology and fuel types - what are the health impacts
in the Nordic countries of these changes? Marit Låg, Norwegian
National Public Health Institute.
2. Environmentally efficient logistics - challenges and opportunities.
Ole A. Hagen, communications and marketing director at Tollpost Globe,
Norway.
3. Experiences of low noise and dust asphalt, Nordic state of the art.
Hans Bendtsen, Danish Road Directorate.
