Session 4: Natura 2000 and Road Planning:
Experiences with Stricter Administration of the Habitats Directive

SESSION IN ENGLISH

The session's theme is Natura 2000. Nordic presentations describe the consequences of a stricter administrative practice in regard of the Habitats Directive, after the EU Court's "Mussels decision", on EIA studies.

The session consists of 3 presentations, beginning with an overview of Nordic administration practice and continuing with cases from Nordic countries.

A Finnish case describing the significance of the habitats directive in planning and designing roads. Tarja Söderman, Finland’s environmental administration.
