Plenary Session 1: Focusing on People

We need a well balanced and carefully developed transport system to provide a basis for sustainable development of our society and the needs of citizens and business.

The focus is in many ways on people:

• on the road: complex needs and demands, soft bodies in a hard system.

• behind the steering wheel: the vehicles have safety systems and electronics, but are we able to manage the system if things go wrong?

• on the job: plans and actions to make needs and resources meet in an optimal transport system.

Do these roles fit together, is there fruitful co-operation, or are they in conflict? Better service also presupposes developing our organisations, co-operation and competence.
